1. Happy birthday to me!
It was my birthday this week, so I had a lovely cake at growth group (Bible study), including a cute little purple pinwheel. It’s nice to be celebrated.
I got some nice flowers for my birthday, but just as lovely as the bought ones are the camellias on our front hedge. I am so glad that hedge is there – thanks to the previous owners! – as it brings us much joy when it blooms. Yes there are camellia petals everywhere, but it’s a bit like a celebration every time you walk in the driveway!
3. Industrious spiders
When there have been breaks in this week’s crazy Sydney weather, all the garden creatures make the most of it. I’m not sure what this spider was trying to achieve, exactly, but it was interesting. Reminds me of the spiders on drugs experiments (there is no LSD around here, promise).
Had some friends over last night for a low key hang, sort of a birthday party but not really. I made a chicken and vegie bake, and as I was washing the leeks, the sun shone on them and I just loved the swirly curls they made in the colander. It was a yummy dish too, followed by trifle that I made using the leftover birthday cake from earlier in the week. Yes, we waste nothing here, we believe in using the whole cake.
What did you get up to this week?
