stupid telstra and their pleasant-sounding automated receptionist thingy. she gets you to state “in a couple of words” the nature of your enquiry and then says in a friendly tone, “i’d like to connect you to a consultant, but unfortunately the centre is closed. The centre is open between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday, and 8.30am to 5pm Saturdays, Eastern Standard Daylight Savings Time. Please call back between those hours.”
okay, so if I call at 9.56am on a Friday morning, that’s obviously outside those hours. maybe when you say you want to disconnect your phone they just refuse to answer the call – canny marketing tactics!
